About Dumplings

A place for folding curiosity into little pockets of thought, and learning as we go.

Dumplings are a metaphor. Teeny pockets of goodness, packed with flavor, care, and more than their size lets on. That is what I want this blog to feel like: sometimes quick, sometimes filling, always made with love. Here, I write my way through the things I keep returning to, science, music, poetry, books, art, and the odd little thoughts that keep simmering in my head.

I'm Samee. By day and by night, I work on language and the strange, beautiful problem of teaching machines to understand us. In between, I'm usually reading something slowly, replaying a song for the fortieth time, drawing whatever is stuck in my head, or chasing a thought until it turns into something. Dumplings is where those worlds overlap.

No grand unifying theory here, just thoughts in whatever shape they need, full of flavor, served warm.

Most of what I write here begins as something I am trying to understand myself. Teaching is how I learn, it forces me to slow down, notice what I do not understand yet, and turn a messy thought into something clearer. I also firmly believe in visual learning, partly because that is how I learn best myself. When an idea feels too abstract, a sketch, diagram, or small interactive piece can make it easier to hold. These notes are for my own understanding, but I hope they are useful to anyone thinking through the same ideas.
